Do Not
Expect The World To Come To Us
Acts 5:12-13
12 The
apostles performed many signs and wonders among the people. And all the
believers used to meet together in Solomon’s Colonnade. 13 No one
else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people.
We have
to get into the world
1 Corinthians 9:19-22
19 Though I
am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to
win as many as possible. 20 To the
Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became
like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to
win those under the law. 21 To those
not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not
free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not
having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak,
to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by
all possible means I might save some.
When we
are in the world we must be consistent & deliberate
Romans
10:13-21
13 for,
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How,
then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they
believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without
someone preaching to them?15 And how
can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are
the feet of those who bring good news!”
16 But not
all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has
believed our message?” 17 Consequently,
faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the
word about Christ. 18 But I
ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
“Their
voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.”
their words to the ends of the world.”
19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First,
Moses says,
“I will
make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”
20 And Isaiah boldly says,
“I was
found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me.”
21 But concerning Israel he says,
“All day
long I have held out my hands
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
We need
to be able to represent the truth well
Colossians
4:4-6
4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. 5 Be wise in the way you
act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6 Let your conversation be
always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to
answer everyone.
1 Peter 3:15
15 But in
your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to
give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
Love must
be as present as our message
John
13:34-35
34 “A new
command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you
must love one another. 35 By this
everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Not
Judging, but strengthening
1
Corinthians 5:12
12 What
business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to
judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked person from
among you.
Galatians
6:1-2
6 Brothers
and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should
restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be
tempted. 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you
will fulfill the law of Christ.
